Are you a student wanting to change majors to petroleum engineering from either another College of Engineering department or from Texas A&M University departments outside the College of Engineering?
Start the process by completing all of the following first-year coursework with a minimum grade of “C” before you apply:
- ENGL 104
- MATH 151 and MATH 152
- PHYS 206 or PHYS 218
- CHEM 107 and CHEM 117; or CHEM 102 and CHEM 112
Since applications to petroleum engineering are competitive, it is best if you have at least a 3.0 GPA in these courses.
Once you have completed the courses above, you may apply by completing and submitting the Change of Major Request Application, available online through your Howdy portal. All applicants are encouraged to visit with a petroleum engineering advisor before applying.
Have questions? Check out the application first. If you cannot find the answers, email our undergraduate department at pe-ugrad_info@tamu.edu.
