We are very proud of our former students. They exemplify the core values of Texas A&M University and mentor and give back to current students pursuing a degree. They also support the Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering with service and other contributions so we can continue to produce the best Aggie petroleum engineers possible.

Most of our former students work quietly behind the scenes. Sometimes we find out about and spotlight a few of them, which we gladly share on this page.

Petroleum engineering former students P. Embry Canterbury, Lance Robertson and Linhua Guan were honored to be included on the Aggie 100 list for 2023.

Karrin Loser ’91 and the Loser family have established the Tim Loser ’92 Petroleum Engineering Memorial Endowed Scholarship to inspire Aggie petroleum engineering students to carry on Tim’s legacy of passion, excellence and unselfish commitment to the industry.

Sean Smith ’83 and his wife, Tina Smith ’82, have established a scholarship to encourage Aggie engineering students to participate in the Graham Petroleum Ventures Program and to experience the shared Aggie bond among current and former students.

Engineer and lawyer Chrysta Castañeda established the Ricardo E. Garza ’69 Petroleum Ventures Program Endowed Scholarship to support engineering students participating in the Petroleum Ventures Program.

The Houston A&M Club has established a scholarship to honor their past president and support first-generation Hispanic petroleum engineering students from the Houston area.

After receiving scholarships that helped him attain his petroleum engineering degree, John Kalyondo ’20 was inspired by the generosity of the Aggie family to establish the PETE Class of ’20 Endowed Scholarship.
