Winners of the 2018 petroleum department student paper contest

Contest objective

The paper contest is a peer-level competition for our junior, senior, and graduate level students, one geared toward assisting them to develop proficiency in presenting technical papers or research projects in an oral and visual form before both their peers and a panel of experts.

Dates

The contest will be held on Jan. 26, 2019, and the run-offs on the next Saturday, Feb. 2.

Sponsorship Levels                                                 

  • Diamond - $10,000
  • Platinum - $5,000-$9,999
  • Gold - $2,500-$4,999
  • Silver - $1,000-$2,499
  • Bronze - $25-$999

Sponsorship money is used for:

  • student financial grants
  • costs associated with running the contest (i.e., food, equipment, paper supplies, travel, etc.)

Judge information

If you wish to judge a contest, read the qualifications below and use our sign up link. Feel free to share this information with others in your company!

  • We need approximately 130 undergraduate level, 25 master's level and 25 doctorate level judges.
  • Judges must hold at least an academic degree equal to the level they will be judging.
  • Judges may be from other engineering disciplines (or a closely related field) and need not be a Texas A&M former student.
  • The contest is an ALL DAY event beginning at 8 a.m. with a 30-40-minute orientation session and lasting until approximately 5 p.m.
  • Student presentations will begin at 9 a.m.
  • We provide a continental breakfast and a lunch.
  • We will host an awards ceremony following the conclusion of the contest (place to be determined). All judges, moderators and students are invited to attend.
