Major: Mechanical Engineering
Class of: 2017
Hometown: Premont, Texas
Why did you choose mechanical
engineering?
I chose mechanical engineering because it was the best place to use
my love for physics and problem solving in a way to have a direct
impact on society and improve the world as we know it.
Why did you choose Texas A&M
University?
College Station is home of the best
university in the country, and a great place to keep my horses. My
education and outdoor lifestyle are very important to me.
What was the best part of your experience in the Texas
A&M MEEN department?
My best experience so far has been the friends I have made. I have
learned something from each and every single one of them, and they
feel like family.
Why did you become a MEEN
Ambassador?
I became a MEEN Ambassador to help students make well-thought out
decisions that will have a significant effect on their future. I
remember how challenging it was for me a few years ago, and I want
to help those who would like some guidance.
What research, work, and/or study abroad experiences
have you had?
I have interned twice with ExxonMobil for a total of 6 months,
studied abroad in Greece for almost a month, and I am currently
working on research regarding the dynamics of fluid-fluid interface
with a team of PhD students and faculty members.
If you could give one piece of advice to incoming MEEN
students, what would it be?
Put in more effort than the people around you. The extra mile will
set you apart from your classmates, and don't think that goes
unnoticed.
What organizations are you a part of or have you
been a part of? Have you or do you currently hold an officer
position?
I served as the
treasure for the Texas Aggie Rodeo Team last year, and I am serving
as the president of the team this year. I am part of a few honor
societies as well.
Are you a transfer student? Did you
participate in the entry to major
process?
No and no. I was in the last group of students to apply directly to
mechanical engineering my senior year of high
school.
