Major: Mechanical Engineering
Class of: 2019
Hometown: Portland, Texas
Why did you choose mechanical
engineering?
All of my life I have been a builder and problem solver. I loved
creating Rube Goldberg projects all over my house as a child. Later
on in life I got to take mechanical physics classes and hands on
labs which quickly became my favorite learning experiences in both
high school and my freshman year of college.
Why did you choose Texas A&M
University?
My entire family went to Texas
A&M. I visited the campus quite often while my sister studied
Engineering during my high school years. I fell in love with the
campus, traditions and Aggie spirit just like my parents, sister
and cousins.
What was the best part of your experience in the Texas
A&M MEEN department?
I have greatly enjoyed
the faculty I met in this program. I have gotten to know them very
well and I still keep in contact with my previous professors. The
people working in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas
A&M University make college feel like a small community and
they truly care about your life.
Why did you become a MEEN
Ambassador?
I wanted to show women that they
can do anything they set their minds to. I grew up with the ability
to do whatever I desired and chose this major because of my love
for it. If mechanical engineering is someones dream, I want to
make sure they have all the information and support they need to
succeed in this department.
If you could give one piece of advice to incoming MEEN
students, what would it be?
Get to know your
professors and advisors. They have their jobs because they want to
help you succeed in college and life.
What organizations are you a part of or have you been a
part of? Have you or do you currently hold an officer
position?
I am currently serving as the Service Chair for Phi Eta Sigma, one
of Texas A&Ms Honor Societies. I am also a member of
MEEN Girls and a volunteer at BUILD, an organization that builds
portable hospitals for underprivileged countries. I have recently
become the Vice President and Co-founder of the Texas A&M
Juggling Club.
Are you a transfer student? Did you participate in the
entry to major process?
No, however I did participate in the entry to a major process after
my freshman year.
