Overview
The BAEN Food Engineering Global VALENCIA Engagement Program is integral to the Texas A&M University Study Abroad initiative, synergizing with the Halliburton Engineering Global Programs. Based in Valencia, Spain this initiative operates in partnership with the Department of Food Science and Technology of the School of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering at the University Polytechnic of Valencia (UPV).
BAEN/CHEN 422 – Unit Operations in Food Processing
This course will be instructed by Dr. Rosana Moreira, a food engineering professor with experience collaborating with various food industry players. Her research primarily revolves around the modeling and control of food processing systems, encompassing aspects such as food extrusion, deep-fat frying/vacuum frying, dehydration, food irradiation, and more.
BAEN 427 – Engineering Aspects of Packaging
Dr. Elena Castell-Perez, a distinguished food engineering professor, will oversee this course. Her expertise lies in the field of rheology and material properties. She has played a pivotal role in the development of
biodegradable polymers for food packaging and the utilization of nanotechnology in creating antimicrobial delivery systems for fresh produce, as well as nutrient delivery for human health through natural antioxidants.HIGHLIGHTS
