Developed by our Industry Board, the Academy of Distinguished Graduates of the Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering is a way to recognize and acknowledge our most distinguished former students.
All our members:
- hold a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M University
- graduated at least 15 years before their induction
- made notable contributions to the petroleum engineering profession or the petroleum industry
Membership is usually limited to 1.5% of the former students of the department. However, former students of the department recognized by the College of Engineering before 1998 as Outstanding Honor Alumni were automatically allowed into the academy.
Industry board members, department faculty, or former students can nominate former students for consideration. The Industry Board will select an inductee based on the professional accomplishments and increasing impact the nominee has made on the petroleum industry. Induction ceremonies take place annually.
