Overview
This is a three-week program for Summer I in Rome, the “Eternal City.” Classes will be held at the Accent Center (our provider) in a beautiful location close to the central area around Piazza Navona, which is within walking distance to other major Roman attractions. A typical class day will consist of three to four hours of morning class time and two to three hours of directed study and homework in the afternoon.
Two weekends and some afternoons will be dedicated to cultural and tech visits, including some of the traditional Roman classics (the Colosseum, the Imperial Fora, the Vatican Museum, the Roman aqueduct system), Florence and Pompeii. Students will have free time to visit Sorrento or alternative locations. A Serie A soccer match, handful of group meals in addition to transit passes and an introduction course on Italian language will be included.
Texas A&M University engineering students get to experience this unique opportunity with Italian native Dr. Luca Quadrifoglio, who will lead this global program. The international location allows students to learn how civil engineering systems and projects — and their related problems — exist elsewhere in the world. Students will also be exposed to a different cultural and professional setting, preparing them for a global work environment.
