The Zachry Leadership Program spans five semesters with one three-credit hour leadership course each semester. The course in each semester includes a mandatory pre-semester retreat that is an intensive, multi-day event consisting of experiential learning, interactive exercises and dialogue. During the semester, weekly class sessions include dialogue with peers, simulations, personal reflections, case study discussions, and conversations with thought leaders from industry, government, and nonprofits. The workload outside of the classroom is less than a typical three-hour course because of the credited contact hours earned during the pre-semester retreats.

Each semester, the cohort explores a different leadership topic, as well as principles of service and the free enterprise system. Throughout the five semesters, students are also given opportunities to practice communication, teamwork, and critical thinking. The curriculum is designed to be completed in sequence and each course builds on the previous semesters. The diagram below summarizes the entire five semesters.
