Below are some of the benefits students will enjoy at the Texas A&M University Engineering Academy at Alamo Colleges District:
- Students will be coenrolled at Texas A&M University and Austin Community College. Engineering students in the Engineering Academy program enroll in one engineering course through Texas A&M each semester. These courses are taught by Texas A&M faculty on the Austin Community College campus. All math, science and other core curriculum courses are taken through Austin Community College.
- Mathematics and science courses — which build the foundation for engineering skills — have smaller student-faculty ratios, giving students the ability to connect more closely with their professors.
- Students will have opportunities to participate in student activities and organizations at both institutions to the fullest extent possible.
- Students enjoy substantial financial savings! Engineering students in the Engineering Academy program are charged tuition and fees by the institution through which each course is registered. Texas A&M coursework is registered in absentia which allows for a deduction in fees for services not used by students enrolled in a course conducted away from the Texas A&M University campus.
- Students who earn a minimum 3.75 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) at both the Austin Community College and Texas A&M and who complete the required coursework will have guaranteed entry to one of their top choices of engineering major after the required Entry to a Major (ETAM) coursework is completed.
