Fumehood

Fume hood (JCAIN 320)

The chemical fume hood is a ventilated enclosure that can protect workers by containing vapors, gases, fumes generated within the hood. The air containing generated contaminants is removed through connected ductwork and exhausted to the atmosphere.

Specifications:

The fume hood is inspected by TAMU EHS annually. TAMU requires that all chemical fume hoods be ducted to the outside of the building and operate with an average face velocity consistent with industry standards. The acceptable range for the average face velocity of a general purpose chemical hood is 95 – 120 feet per minute (fpm). The minimum face velocity at any measuring point should be at least 80 fpm.
