Horizons Fellowship: 21 Fellowships for 21st Century Scholars

The College of Engineering at Texas A&M University is offering 21 research fellowships for domestic students beginning their PhD program at Texas A&M University.
  • This is a 1-year fellowship program to support doctoral research under the supervision and mentorship of COE faculty beginning fall of 2025
  • The program goal is to provide 21 fellowships for students across the College of Engineering.  At least one fellowship will be awarded per department.  One additional fellowship may be awarded to students in departments having the highest PhD student enrollment.
Funding
  • Year 1 funding will be covered by COE.
  • Year 1 - awardee will receive:
    •  $30,000 fellowship stipend
    •  Tuition and required student fees for full-time enrollment (9 credit hours in fall or spring semesters; 6 credit hours in summer, if applicable)
    • Reimbursement for the cost of single health insurance equivalent to the TAMUS student health insurance plan
    • Professional development scholarship of $1,500 for first year
  • Year 2-3 - awardee will receive:
    •  A total of $30,000 as a department assistantship (GAT or GAR employment) during academic Years 2-3
    • The department and/or faculty PI will provide full tuition and required student fees, and reimbursement for the cost of single health insurance equivalent to the TAMUS student health insurance plan.
Student Eligibility
  • Completed a TAMU Ph.D. application by the date of nomination.
  • The nominees must already be admitted or plan to be admitted by the nominating department.
  • First-time graduate student at TAMU.
  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. permanent resident.

Engineering Graduate Merit Doctoral Fellowship

This highly competitive fellowship awards students with $30,000 per year for three to four years (Doctor of Philosophy) in addition to health insurance costs and tuition and fees. All competitive domestic applicants who applied for a fall semester matriculation are considered for this prestigious fellowship. One student is awarded for each participating department. 
  • Award: $30,000/year
  • Residency requirements: U.S. resident or permanent resident
  • Applicants: New doctoral students
  • Must be nominated by engineering graduate department

 NOTE: Students cannot apply directly to these fellowships. They must be nominated by their engineering department.
