Below are some of the benefits students will enjoy at the Texas A&M University Engineering Academy at Alamo Colleges District:
- Students will be coenrolled at Texas A&M University and the Alamo Colleges District. Engineering students in the Engineering Academy program enroll in one engineering course through Texas A&M each semester. These courses are taught by Texas A&M faculty at Northeast Lakeview College in the Alamo Colleges District. Math and science courses must also be taken at Northeast Lakeview College. All other core curriculum courses can be taken at any college in the Alamo Colleges District.
- Mathematics and science courses — which build the foundation for engineering skills — have smaller student-faculty ratios, giving students the ability to connect more closely with their professors.
- Students will have opportunities to participate in student activities and organizations at both institutions to the fullest extent possible.
- Students enjoy substantial financial savings! Engineering students in the Engineering Academy program are charged tuition and fees by the institution through which each course is registered. Texas A&M coursework is registered in absentia which allows for a
deduction in fees for services not used by students enrolled in a course conducted away from the Texas A&M University campus. - Students who earn a minimum 3.75 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) at both the Alamo Colleges District and Texas A&M will have guaranteed entry to one of their top choices of engineering major after the required Entry to a Major (ETAM) coursework is completed.
