NOTE: We have removed access to our fee waiver request form due to a high volume of applications. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Notice

The deferral request form referred to on this page is only for students admitted to Texas A&M University's industrial and systems engineering graduate program. If you are not an industrial and systems engineering graduate student, please contact the program for which you applied and request information about your program's deferral policy.

If you have been admitted to graduate studies within the Texas A&M industrial and systems engineering department but are unable to attend your first semester of admission, you have the option to delay your admission start date for up to one academic year. Please note that you can only request to defer if you have been admitted into our program. This information is only applicable to the following degree programs: Master of Science in industrial engineering, Master of Science in engineering management, Master of Engineering in industrial engineering, Master of Engineering in systems engineering or a Doctor of Philosophy in industrial engineering.

Our department and university do not charge any fees for requesting to defer.

Our Deferral Process

Deferral Application Steps

  1. You must complete and submit a department Graduate Admission Deferral Request form. Email requests to defer will not be accepted or processed.
  2. Our graduate program will then receive and review your request.
  3. Your request is then routed to our associate department head for approval.
  4. After we have obtained approval from our associate department head, we will send the request to the Office of Admissions to be processed.

After Application Submission

Our Graduate Program Office will send you a confirmation email letting you know your request has been sent to the Office of Admissions. After you receive this confirmation email, you can check the status of your request by logging into Texas A&M's Applicant Information System (AIS)

If your deferral request has been completed by the Office of Admissions, you will have a new admissions letter in your AIS portal reflecting the semester you requested to defer to as your new admission start date. If your AIS account is still showing your original admission term, it means your deferral has not been completed by the Office of Admissions.

If you have not received a confirmation email from our Graduate Program Office, it means our department has not processed or submitted your request to the Office of Admissions. If this is the case, please do not contact the Office of Admissions.

Deadlines

  • Fall - If you were admitted for fall, you must submit your deferral request by the first Monday in July at 11:59 p.m. CST.

You can do this by completing step one of the Deferral Application Steps shown above. At the end of the form, there is a text box provided for you to enter your explanation. Your request will be reviewed by our graduate team. Once our graduate team has arrived at a decision, you will be notified if you have been granted or denied an extension for your deferral request.
