Position: Internal Subcommittee
Major: Aerospace engineering
Hometown: Frisco, Texas

Why I want to be an engineer: Throughout my whole life I have always loved solving problems and fixing things. I remember when I was in middle school, the PlayStation in our house stopped working. I took it upon myself to figure out what the problem was, and ended up replacing the optical drive myself and fixed the issue for $15. I've always enjoyed solving problems and building things, and when it came time to choose my major for college, I already knew engineering was going to be the best for me. I am now in Aerospace Engineering and loving it so far.

Favorite thing about Engineering Honors: I love the Living Learning Program. It is definitely a highlight to have a place full of students in my own major. Also, my ECOS squad fellow is one of the first and few engineering students that's not a freshman that I got to know my freshman year.

Favorite thing about Engineering Honors: I value the networking and leadership opportunities and the important information that is shared through the many forms of communication (emails, twitter, townhalls, eCampus, etc.). These opportunities and shared information allow me to develop my network, grow as a leader, and develop as an engineer. Engineering Honors facilitates my awareness and access to these resources.

Position: External Subcommittee Member
Major: Aerospace engineering
Minor: Mathematics
Hometown: Shiloh, Illinois

Favorite thing about Engineering Honors: My favorite part of Engineering Honors (EH) is the Course Scheduling Social and the mentoring aspect that comes with it. As a freshman, it was very beneficial to connect with upperclassmen and get insight on what to expect from courses, and what kinds of elective classes to think about based on personal interests. That kind of mentorship was very helpful to me and something that EH does a good job with.

Position: External Subcommittee Member
Major: Computer science and engineering
Hometown: Dallas, Texas

Favorite thing about Engineering Honors: My favorite part of Engineering Honors are the Track Coordinators. I have gotten very good information every time I've met with a Track Coordinator and the meetings have been far more useful than meetings I have had with other advisors. I think that having individuals who are knowledgeable about the resources that EH offers and the requirements to graduate with Honors distinction is extremely useful to Honors students. I also think that the Track Coordinators serve as a good way for students to learn more about opportunities available to them that other students may not have access to.

Favorite thing about Engineering Honors: My favorite thing about Engineering Honors is that it has provided a very close-knit community inside a very large university. In this community, I have been able to find tremendous amount of support and help from faculty members/ professors and upperclassmen. My freshman year would not have been the same if it were not for the Engineering Honors that has been able to create a strong community as a result of dedicated individuals that work hard to help students achieve their goals and ambitions. Every day, this success-driven atmosphere motivates and inspires me to make a greater impact in my surroundings and in my community as well as perceive each challenge as an opportunity to improve and discover.

Favorite thing about Engineering Honors: My favorite aspects of Engineering Honors is the plethora of opportunities and resources the program provides to its members. The range of opportunities the program offers allows me to build my skills and advance my skill set in ways that will better prepare me for my career... Why I want to be an engineer: I always loved math, and in high school I really enjoyed physics, but rather than go into either of these purely theoretical fields, I felt that engineering would be a good fit for me as it includes both, but also has a strong emphasis on social skills and more real world, everyday applications.
