Texas A&M University’s J. Mike Walker ’66 Department of Mechanical Engineering is ranked No. 3 internationally and No. 1 nationally among mechanical engineering programs for 2024 by ShanghaiRanking.

The Shanghai Rankings’ Global Ranking of Academic Subjects assesses over 1,800 universities across 93 countries, evaluating international programs like mechanical engineering based on five key metrics: world-class faculty, high-quality research, world-class output, research impact, and international collaborations. 

“This accolade speaks highly about the top quality of our program and our ability to sustain this recognition for four years in a row,” said Dr. Guillermo Aguilar, department head of the J. Mike Walker ’66 Department of Mechanical Engineering. “Our department remains committed to supporting and empowering our faculty in their pursuit of internationally recognized research.”

From 2021 through 2024, the J. Mike Walker ’66 Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M has ranked No. 1 nationally and amongst the top eight programs internationally.
