Texas A&M University Former Students often go on to achieve wild stories of success, seemingly impossible feats of triumph, and sometimes, incredible changes in the world. Texas A&M recognizes the success of its former students each year and will honor 12 alumni with the Distinguished Alumnus Award. This is the highest recognition for former students. This award, presented in collaboration with The Association of Former Students on September 20th, acknowledges their remarkable achievements and meaningful contributions to the Aggieland and their communities.

This year, the College of Engineering is proud to have three honorees. They are:

  • David D. "Dave" Dunlap ’83 — Petroleum Engineering
  • Philip “Phil” Miner ’80 — Ocean Engineering
  • Hon. Richard A. Smith ’59 — Mechanical Engineering
