Dr. Ali Erdemir, professor in the J. Mike Walker ’66 Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University and Halliburton Chair, has been selected as a Foreign Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences representing the Engineering Division in recognition for his extensive and impactful contributions to science and research over his career.

The European Academy of Science, a non-profit, independent organization, comprises eminent scholars and engineers at the forefront of research and technological advancement. They are committed to promoting science and technology to foster social and economic development.

Expressing his gratitude, Erdemir remarked, “It certainly feels great to be a member of such an organization and to be noticed and recognized for what I have been doing in the mechanical engineering field. It also gives me the utmost pleasure to represent Texas A&M and my department at the highest possible levels of excellence in science and engineering.”

Currently, Erdemir is working on multidisciplinary research that leverages the expertise of leading scientists and engineers to address complex challenges related to friction, wear, and lubrication. These issues often compromise the efficiency, reliability, and environmental compatibility of moving mechanical systems.

“I am very thankful to my students, research associates, and collaborators for their support and inspiration for all these years. I would also like to thank the nominators and selection committee for bestowing this honor to me. This would not otherwise have been possible,” Erdemir said.
