Texas A&M University Black Student Alliance Council (BSAC), the College of Engineering, MSC Woodson Black Awareness Committee, and The Association of Former Students welcome the campus community to Black History Month events in a celebration of culture, heritage, and creativity.

Embracing the national theme of Black History Month 2024 from the Library of Congress, "African Americans and the Arts," these gatherings will illuminate the profound impact of African American creativity. Among the highlights is the Black History Month Dinner and Celebration, hosted by the Student Engagement for Academic Success (SEAS) program in collaboration with the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). Scheduled for February 29 at 6 p.m. in the Zachry Engineering Education Complex (ZACH), Chevron Rooms 297-299, this event features traditional soul food, performances highlighting Black community culture, and keynote speakers Jonas Abraha, manufacturing manager at Chevron Phillips Chemical Company, and Dr. April Lovelady, director of immersion experiences at Texas A&M.

Afrofuturism Conference

This is a two-day academic conference and series of creative presentations that explore the current nature of Afrofuturism as part of celebrating Black History Month. Presented by the School of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts, the Race and Ethnic Studies Institute, and BSAC.

The Art of Professionalism 
Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference | February 19 at 7 p.m.
Hosted by the Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference, a panel of Black former Aggies will describe their experiences working in their career fields. 

The Art of Stepping: A Black History Showcase
National Pan-Hellenic Council | February 23 at 7 p.m.
An informative showcase presented by the National Pan-Hellenic Council.

Afro-Latinx Life In Writing
MSC Woodson Black Awareness Committee | February 29 at 9 a.m. | MSC 2300D/E
This event, hosted by the MSC Woodson Black Awareness Committee, will initiate a discussion over the perspectives of Afro-Latinx experiences.
