Dr. Behbood Ben Zoghi assumed the role as interim department head of the Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution at Texas A&M University on Aug.15, 2023.
 
With a longstanding association with Texas A&M since 1987, Zoghi has consistently demonstrated dedication and diverse contributions throughout his academic career. His leadership journey began as associate department head for research from 1999 to 2001, fostering academic exploration and advancing scholarly inquiry.
 
From 2001 to 2005, Zoghi assumed the roles of program coordinator of industrial distribution and director of the Thomas and Joan Read Center. His guidance facilitated strides in educational innovation and institutional growth.
 
From 2015 to 2016, while serving as assistant agency director for the office of corporate relations at the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station, Zoghi effectively established and nurtured external partnerships, enhancing industry connectivity.
 
Dr. Zoghi's leadership is exemplified by his recent innovation in the creation of an online professional graduate program, the Master of Engineering Technical Management, combining academic rigor with industrial demands.
 
His research includes wearable technology, machine learning, and mindfulness techniques, which blend conventional and cutting-edge concepts. His research predicts technical leadership effectiveness and well-being, reflecting a holistic approach to education and personal growth.
 
Zoghi’s work, facilitated by his dual appointment at Los Alamos National Laboratory, emphasizes his dedication to promoting a positive cultural environment and fostering the development of technical leadership within the national labs.

Zoghi is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and has held the Victor H. Thompson Endowed Professorship since 2001.

"Our department has grown to be the largest department in the College of Engineering with outstanding faculty and staff,” Zoghi said. "I would like to thank Dr. Reza Langari for doing an outstanding job leading our department over the past decade. I am honored and humbled to be given the opportunity to serve as the interim department head.”
