Two professors in the Department of Nuclear Engineering were among several honorees presented with an award recognizing the service, excellence and distinction of faculty members at the annual Texas A&M University College of Engineering Faculty Awards Banquet.

Dr. Karen Kirkland and Dr. Sunil Chirayath each received their own distinct honor during the annual spring ceremony held in the Zachry Engineering Education Complex Chevron rooms.

Dr. Karen Kirkland received the College of Engineering Dean of Engineering Excellence Award - Professor, which recognizes faculty members who excel in all three major pillars of academia: teaching, research and service/engagement.

Dr. Sunil Chirayath received the Texas A&M University Association of Former Students Distinguished Achievement Award College Level Award. The award honors outstanding faculty members for their dedication to teaching and recognizes them for their talent, expertise and devotion to conveying knowledge to students.

“The honors given to these two faculty members are a testament to their dedication to our department and to their students. We are very proud of Dr. Kirkland and Dr. Chirayath for receiving these great distinctions,” said Dr. Michael Nastasi, nuclear engineering department head.
