Kelly and John P. Suitts ’80 have always been inspired by the education, community and opportunities offered by the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University. This inspiration has led them to establish the Kelly and John P. Suitts ’80 Endowed Scholarship in Engineering to help influence the lives of future Aggie engineers.

After graduating from high school in Mesquite, Texas, John came to Texas A&M to study mechanical engineering to pursue his growing interest in engineering and the practical applications of technology. Along with these interests, the opportunities offered by Texas A&M to enter internships and co-ops were a complete game changer for his education.

“The co-op program at Texas A&M was a big influence,” John said. “I worked three semesters at Halliburton. The education, community and values associated with Texas A&M greatly benefitted my 41-year career at ExxonMobil.”

However, it was the generations of Aggies that came before John that truly helped him achieve his goals. Both he and Kelly were recipients of scholarships that set them up for a successful and promising future. Now it is their turn to pay that generosity forward.

Scholarships helped both of us graduate and have rewarding careers. We would like to give back to Texas A&M and help others succeed.

John Suitts

The Suitts want to help Aggie engineers gain a quality education that will help them become leaders in our ever-changing world. Being able to help provide hardworking students with an exceptional education is only the beginning of shaping the engineering industry.

“We hope it helps some good people achieve their educational goals,” John said. “As countless Aggies have demonstrated, an education from Texas A&M can help people achieve their aspirations.”

How To Give

Endowments supporting students in the college have an immeasurable impact on their education. If you are interested in supporting the College of Engineering and its departments or would like more information on how you can give, please contact one of our development officers.
