Dr. Shuiwang Ji, professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University, has been named a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for his contributions to machine learning and data mining. 

IEEE Fellow is an honor bestowed upon members of outstanding and extraordinary qualifications who have experience in IEEE-designated fields and have made significant individual contributions to one or more of those fields. In total, the IEEE board of directors elevated 319 members to the status of fellow for 2023.

Ji received his doctorate in computer science from Arizona State University and is also the director of the Data Integration, Visualization and Exploration Lab. His research interests include developing advanced machine-learning methods and tools for solving problems in quantum physics, chemistry, materials science, biology, drug discovery, partial differential equations and fluid mechanics.

He is also a fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering and a distinguished member of the Association for Computing Machinery.
