Jamita Barnett-Machen has established the J. Barnett ’94 Scholarship to provide one or more scholarships to full-time students in good standing pursuing an undergraduate degree in computer science and engineering from Texas A&M University.
“I saw an opportunity to give back to the university while fostering an inclusive environment for minority students by providing them with a scholarship,” Barnett-Machen said.
Barnett-Machen stays involved with the university through the Association of Former Students, which aided in her decision to fund an endowment.
“The outreach to students at Texas A&M is unmatched and the professors in the computer science department are great,” Barnett-Machen said. “Both of these factors, and my continued involvement with the association, played a role in my decision.”
