Texas A&M mechanical engineering undergraduate program holds 7th place among public institutions

The J. Mike Walker '66 Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University continued its high recognition among peers nationwide, maintaining its 7th place ranking among public undergraduate programs according to the most recent U.S. News and World Report rankings.

Including private universities, Texas A&M was tied for 13th overall with Princeton University.

"We are proud of the work of our faculty, staff and students to continue to propel our department toward preeminence," said Department Head Dr. Andreas Polycarpou. "The ranking indicates that our peers recognize our dedication to excellence as our faculty make important contributions to the discipline and society."

The rankings are based on a combination of several factors, including faculty resources, financial resources, student excellence, alumni giving, graduation and retention rates, and expert opinion from institutional peers around the country.
