The J. Mike Walker '66 Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University celebrated some of its brightest students at its Fall 2018 Donor Recognition and Scholarship/Fellowship Banquet on Oct. 18.

More than 300 guests were in attendance in the Bethancourt Ballroom in the Memorial Student Center, where the department also gathered to honor the generosity of its donors through their contributions and continued support of the department’s mission.

During the evening, department leaders shared highlights and expressed thanks to its students who have excelled in their programs and represent the future of both the department and mechanical engineering at large.

"We strive to provide our students with an education based on fundamentals while encouraging creativity and problem-solving skills through experiential learning opportunities in our laboratories and through industry connections," said Dr. Andreas Polycarpou, department head. "All this is made possible through the support of our donors. Their generous contributions build a legacy that continues to provide advancements and improvements for the department and profession."
