Jennifer A. Johnson ’98 has established the Jennifer Johnson ’98 Endowed Scholarship to provide one or more scholarships to full-time first-generation students in good standing who are pursuing a degree in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University.

Johnson started her career in engineering for Frito-Lay North America, where she helped support Latin America as part of the global operations branch before transitioning into a leadership role within the supply chain design team.

“I have always wanted to give back in some way,” Johnson said. “I was a first-generation student and I realize how difficult it is to break the mold and be the first to do something that seems out of reach. I want to help other students take that leap by helping with the financial burden so they can focus on learning.”

Johnson’s endowment will help support first-generation students as they break barriers, dedicate themselves to the Artie McFerrin Department of Chemical Engineering and enjoy their time at Texas A&M.

“I remember bonfire, gamedays, Northgate and friendships. I remember the spirit of Aggieland. I also remember the chemical engineering faculty went out of their way to help me get a job that would allow me to focus on my classes,” she said. “For someone who was very independent and tried to do most things on my own, it was nice to know that the faculty was there to support me and help me excel.”
