Dr. James Holste, senior professor and professor emeritus in the Artie McFerrin Department of Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University, and his wife Cathleen have established an endowment for graduate students in the department. The Jim and Cathy Holste Graduate Fellowship will be used to provide one or more fellowships to full-time students pursuing a graduate degree in chemical engineering. Recipients will be chosen by the department head.
“Texas A&M has been very good to us, and I believe in what we are doing here,” Holste said.
He said he has a special connection to the graduate program, both within the department and at the university level, and that it has always been his goal to give back to the program. Throughout his tenure at Texas A&M, Holste has been intimately involved with building up the graduate program, serving as a graduate advisor three different times. He was also the first associate director of the Office of Graduate Studies at Texas A&M and served as associate dean for graduate studies and international programs in the Texas A&M College of Science.
