The fall meeting of the Texas A&M University Department of Mechanical Engineering Industry Advisory Council (IAC) will be held on Friday, Oct. 13 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in conference room 301 of the Mechanical Engineering Office Building on the Texas A&M campus.

The Industry Advisory Council reports to the head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and provides support consistent with the department’s goals and objectives. The support from the IAC is delivered through a structure of five committees; executive committee, faculty-industry liaison committee, resource and development committee, student development committee, and steering committee. Each committee has a set of responsibilities consistent with its particular area of interest and focus. And each member of the IAC is encouraged to actively participate in one of the five committees.

In addition, the goals and objectives of the department are supported through annual gift contributions from the IAC membership directed to the Mechanical Engineering Advancement Fund. This fund is an important source of support for the department, enabling student scholarships, faculty endowments and recognition, and providing a financial means to progress priority initiatives of the department. The annual contribution cycle for 2018 will begin with the fall IAC meeting and end in May 2018. The executive committee will establish the fund contribution goal for the 2018 cycle and will communicate this to the IAC members during the fall meeting.

New members are added each year to the mechanical engineering IAC through a formal nomination process. Nominations for potential new members may be brought forward by the head of the department, Dr. Andreas Polycarpou, current IAC members, and/or the mechanical engineering department development officer, Jonathan Pozzi.
