Tao Zhao, a graduate student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University, was named recipient of the Best Student Paper Award at the 2017 International Symposium on Modeling and Optimization in Mobile, Ad Hoc and Wireless Networks (WiOpt).
Zhao received this recognition for his paper “A Non-Monetary Mechanism for Optimal Rate Control Through Efficient Delay Allocation,” in collaboration with his thesis advisor Dr. I-Hong Hou, assistant professor in the electrical and computer engineering department. Zhao presented an efficient delay allocation rule for servers to determine the target delay of each client. He proposed a simple scheduling policy to achieve such delay allocation.
Zhao received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 2012 and 2015, respectively. His current research interests include distributed systems, cloud-based systems and cyber-physical systems.
