Kim, Moo-HyunDr. Moo-Hyun Kim, a professor in the Department of Ocean Engineering at Texas A&M University, has been elected a Fellow of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME).

This distinction honors individuals who have made outstanding personal contributions to naval architecture, marine or ocean engineering through significant achievements in design, research, production, operation, education or associated management.

“Receiving this award is a great honor and will help to contribute more for SNAME-related activities,” Kim said.

Kim also serves as the editor-in-chief of the Ocean Systems Engineering International Journal and associate editor of both the Journal of Offshore Mechanics and Artic Engineering and the Journal of Ocean Engineering.

“I look forward to acquiring additional international leadership roles related to SNAME and similar international societies as a result of this honor,” Kim said.

His research interests include floating offshore wind turbines; nonlinear dynamics of offshore platforms; multi-vessel, riser, mooring coupled dynamic analysis; wave mechanics and free-surface flows; numerical wave tank; sloshing; computational fluid dynamics; interaction of waves with porous or flexible membrane; hydro-elasticity; and smart offshore platforms and active control.
