Guiseppi-Elie was previously chair elect and was officially elected into his position on March 20. Fellows are nominated each year by their peers and represent the top 2 percent of the medical and biological engineering community.

Guiseppi–Elie earned his multi-major bachelor’s degree in chemistry, applied chemistry and biochemistry, with first class honors from the University of the West Indies; his master’s degree in corrosion science and engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology; and his doctoral and postdoctoral degrees in materials science and engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His career includes 15 years in industry and 18 years in academia.

The College of Fellows is composed of 1,500 individuals who are recognized as outstanding bioengineers in academia, industry and government and have distinguished themselves through their contributions in research, industrial practice and/or education. Fundamental to their achievements is the common goal of embracing innovation to improve the health care and safety of society.

AIMBE is the authoritative voice and advocate for the value of medical and biological engineering to society. It is an organization of leaders in medical and biological engineering, consisting of academic, industrial, professional society councils and elected fellows. AIMBE’s mission includes communicating objectively with and responding to U.S. and state government agencies as well as lawmakers.
