M. Katherine Banks, vice chancellor and dean of engineering, has appointed Dr. Xingyong Song the Corrie and Jim Furber ’64 Faculty Fellow in the Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution. The endowed faculty fellowship was effective Jan. 1.
Song is an assistant professor in engineering technology and industrial distribution with a joint appointment in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Song joined the Texas A&M engineering faculty in September 2015. He received his bachelor’s degree from Harbin Institute of Technology in China, his master’s degree from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in South Korea and his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
Song’s research interests include: dynamic system and control theory; unconventional oil and gas production system automation and control; green automotive propulsion/energy conversion systems; mechatronic system/fluid power system design; and renewable energy production/extraction enabled by advanced control.
