Dr. Raktim Bhattacharya, associate professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Texas A&M University, has been selected by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) as a 2017 AIAA Associate Fellow.
The AIAA is the world's largest technical society dedicated to the global aerospace profession. The grade of Associate Fellow recognizes individuals who have accomplished or been in charge of important engineering or scientific work, or who have done original work of outstanding merit, or who have otherwise made outstanding contributions to the arts, sciences, or technology of aeronautics or astronautics.
To be selected as an Associate Fellow an individual must be an AIAA Senior Member in good standing with at least 12 years professional experience, and be recommended by a minimum of three current Associate Fellows.
Bhattacharya’s research interests are uncertainty quantification in dynamics and control, control theory, optimization, aerospace robotics, embedded systems, verification and validation. He directs the Laboratory for Uncertainty Quantification where the focus is on understanding the influence of uncertainty in engineering systems and developing algorithms to control them in the presence of such uncertainties.
The Class of 2017 Associate Fellows will be officially recognized during the Associate Fellows Recognition Ceremony and Dinner, to be held in conjunction with the AIAA SciTech Forum on Jan. 9, 2017, at the Gaylord Texan, in Grapevine, Texas.
