Barbara and Bill Shepard ’61 have established the Guilford Cunningham Shepard ’34 Scholarship in Mechanical Engineering to be used to provide one or more scholarships to full-time students in good standing who are pursuing an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University.

The scholarship was established in memory of Bill’s father Guilford Shepard, a 1934 graduate of Texas A&M. The elder Shepard received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. 

The Montgomery, Texas couple has developed a legacy of giving that includes contributions to the the College of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Association of Former Students and spans nearly 30 years. 

Bill serves as the president of WLS Drilling Products Inc., an international drilling manufacturing company that produces rock bits and other drilling products for use in oil and gas mining, industrial use, exploration and water well and under utility drilling industries. He earned his degree in mechanical engineering in 1962 from Texas A&M.
