Dr. G. Kemble Bennett, senior professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Texas A&M University and vice chancellor and dean emeritus of the Dwight Look College of Engineering, will receive the Frank and Lillian Gilbreth Industrial Engineering Award from the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE).
The Frank and Lillian Gilbreth Industrial Engineering award is the highest and most revered honor given by IISE, recognizing those who have made contributions to the welfare of mankind and distinguished themselves in the field of industrial engineering.
Bennett's research and enterprise interests span manufacturing, maintainability, reliability, logistics and quality engineering. He served as the U.S. Technical Representative for Maintainability and authored engineering standards that govern the international trade of electronic and mechanical equipment and components. He has been named an Eminent Scholar by Tau Beta Pi and a Fellow by IISE and the Society of Logistics Engineers (SOLE). He has previously been honored with distinguished educator awards by IISE and SOLE.
Bennett began his career at Texas A&M 30 years ago in the Department of Industrial Engineering and oversaw all engineering programs as the vice chancellor and dean for nine years. He founded Texas Task Force 1 and served as the chair of the Texas Board of Professional Engineers, as well as the Federal Emergency Management Agency National Advisory Council, along with numerous positions in IISE and SOLE.
Bennett will be honored at the IISE annual conference and expo in May.
