PAID career fair

The Professional Association for Industrial Distribution (PAID) recently hosted its annual career fair at Texas A&M University’s Hall of Champions.

PAID is one of the largest student-run organizations at Texas A&M with more than 700 members. PAID was formed in 1983 to serve as a link between industrial distribution students and industry. For more than 30 years, PAID has played a key role in providing internships and job opportunities for industrial distribution students.

Industrial distribution is one of only two majors on campus to host major-specific recruitment fairs, the other being construction science. PAID has been hosting its fall career fair for more than 20 years and due to industry demand added a spring fair nine years ago.

The career fair attracted a record 70 companies from around the United States that were recruiting for full-time and internship positions.

“Each company in attendance recognizes the value of industrial distribution students,” said Cory Cobler, president of PAID. “There is no place in the country that you can find the caliber of students we produce here at Texas A&M.”

“PAID is a leading student organization,” added Evan Vestal, an adviser to PAID and a faculty member in industrial distribution. “It serves several purposes for most industrial distribution students including providing a platform for connections with industry, an outlet to provide service to others, and a mechanism to assimilate students into social interaction thereby leading to lifelong relationships with others.

“PAID’s career fairs are premier events on campus and the fall career fair was the largest and most successful yet.  Many of our industry partners commented on the tremendous success of the event.”

In addition to organizing the career fairs, PAID also hosts power lunches, corporate spotlight, the PAID banquet, intern-for-a-day and digital resume collection. PAID has also raised funds for charitable causes with events such as 5K runs and crawfish boils. For more information on PAID and the career fairs, visit PAID’s website.
