Eyad Masad _2M. Katherine Banks, vice chancellor and dean of engineering, has appointed Dr. Eyad Masad the Zachry Professor in Design and Construction Integration II in recognition of his accomplishments and future potential. The endowed professorship is effective Nov. 1.

Masad is a professor in the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering and is the vice dean at Texas A&M University at Qatar. He received his bachelor’s degree from University of Jordan in 1993, and his master’s (1995) and Ph.D. (1998) from Washington State University, all in civil engineering.

Masad’s research interests include constitutive modeling of asphalt mixtures; asphalt pavements performance; transport in porous media; granular mechanics; microstructure characterization of materials; and image analysis techniques.
