The Mechanical Engineering Leadership Council (MELC) at Texas A&M University, recently held its 2015 fall kick-off event. The annual event is an opportunity for students to network with company representatives and meet with faculty members including Dr. Andreas Polycarpou, mechanical engineering department head.
This year’s event was sponsored by companies such as Exxon Mobil, Chevron, British Petroleum, and National Instruments. The MELC was organized in 2014 by student organizations seeking to provide a seamless interface between student organizations and department leadership. The MELC is intended to ensure a positive and collegial student experience.
The annual fall kick-off event is the department’s welcome back event for the academic year. Each year a poster competition is held where students have the opportunity to highlight their current research projects. This year’s top prize of $150 was awarded to Christopher Bay.
