Texas A&M Engineering students Sheril Loke, Wei Kian Yeap and Alwin Ng received a pair of awards at the 2015 Fifth Annual ASEE Student Design & Manufacturing competition held recently.  

ASEE 2015 CompetitionThe team's poster, "Fuel From Food (F3): the Sustainable Energy Source," earned third place overall as well as the award for most creative. The team, which is advised by Dr. Wayne Hung from the Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution, developed a novel idea to recycle waste food by using it for energy harvesting. The idea could potentially save billions of dollars each year. The Texas A&M student chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers sponsored the team.
