Hangtian Lei, a graduate student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University, won the Best Poster Award at the Power Systems Engineering Research Center (PSERC) Industry Advisory Board Meeting.
Lei (left), whose advisor is Dr. Chanan Singh (right), won for his poster that describes the research from a collaborative project titled “Reliability assessment and modeling of cyber enabled power systems with renewable sources and energy storage.” Singh and Dr. Alex Sprintson from the electrical and computer engineering department at Texas A&M, and Dr. V. Aravinthan of Wichita State University were the other investigators.
Lei received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2011. He is currently working toward his Ph.D.
Lei’s research interests include electric power system operation, reliability evaluation and substation automation.
Singh is a Regents Professor and the Irma Runyon Chair Professor in the department. His research and consulting interests are in the application of probabilistic methods to power systems. He is a Fellow of IEEE and the recipient of the 1998 Outstanding Power Engineering Educator Award given by the IEEE Power Engineering Society. In 2010, he was the inaugural recipient of the IEEE-PES Roy Billinton Power System Reliability Award.
