Bratton 1Lisa Bratton, a sophomore engineering student, won first place in the women's 200-meter backstroke at the 2015 World University Games on at the Nambu University International Aquatics Center in Gwangju, South Korea. 

Bratton, from Richland, Washington, won with a lifetime-best time of 2 minutes, 9.31 seconds. Bratton, who is a member of the Texas A&M swim team and is Texas A&M's record holder in short-course yards and long-course meters, covered the last 50 meters a full second faster than anyone else in the field.

Bratton 2At the 2012 United States Olympic Trials, Bratton made it to the semifinals of the 200-meter backstroke, touching the wall in 2:16.53. Bratton earned her spot on the 2013-14 National Junior Team with her performance at the 2013 Speedo Junior National Championships. She placed third in the 200-meter backstroke with a time of 2:11.54, the fifth fastest time in the country. Bratton also placed sixth in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:02.32. She started swimming at age 8 and won Washington high school state titles in her sophomore, junior and senior years. She was named swimmer of the year as a senior at Washington State High School.
