Dr. Hong Liang, professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University, has been appointed as co-editor for the journal Tribology International.
Liang joins Michel Fillon, professor from the Université de Poitiers, and Weimin Liu, professor from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as the third editor of the journal since June 2015.
Liang has served the tribology community in various capacities including, associate editor for several journals including Journal of Tribology, Transactions of STLE, Lubricants, Lubrication Science, and Friction.
She served as a member of the board of directors for the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) from 2007 to 2013 and served on the annual meeting program committee for STLE from 1998 to 2007 and was the chair of the committee in 2007.
Tribology International seeks to publish original research papers of the highest scientific quality to provide an archival resource for scientists of all backgrounds. The journal accepts written contributions reporting experimental and modelling studies both in established areas of tribology and emerging fields.
Scientific topics include the physics or chemistry of tribo-surfaces, bio-tribology, surface engineering and materials, contact mechanics, nano-tribology, lubricants and hydrodynamic lubrication.
According to the journals website, tribology is the science of rubbing surfaces and contributes to every facet of our everyday life, from live cell friction to engine lubrication and seismology.
