Dr. Yue Kuo, Dow Professor in the Artie McFerrin Department of Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University, was the recipient of the Gordon E. Moore Medal from the Electrochemical Society (ECS). Kuo was also appointed the vice president of ECS.
Regarding his continued involvement in the organization, Kuo plans to keep and further promote the good tradition of the century-old premium professional society in scientific and technological leadership on solid state and electrochemistry. In addition he plans to encourage engineers and scientists to publish more high quality papers in ECS journals and transactions, to present state-of-the-art papers in ECS meetings, to enhance member’s professional development, to educate students with new knowledge, and to help the society obtain a clean and healthy environment.
He receiveed the award during the ECS Society Awards in Chicago in May.
"The Gordon E. Moore Medal is one of the highest honors that a solid state researcher can receive," Kuo said. "I am humbled [to receive it]."
The award recognizes achievements not only in the solid state field but also has been awarded for research in physics, chemistry, materials, electrical engineering, industrial engineering and many other scientific areas.
The mission of The Electrochemical Society is to advance theory and practice at the forefront of electrochemical and solid state science and technology, and allied subjects. To encourage research, discussion, critical assessment, and dissemination of knowledge in these fields, the Society holds meetings, publishes scientific papers, fosters training and education of scientists and engineers, and cooperates with other organizations to promote science and technology in the public interest.
