Dr. Robin Autenrieth, department head and A.P. and Florence Wiley Professor III, is pleased to announce the addition of three new faculty members, Dr. Xingmao “Samuel” Ma, Dr. Arash Noshadravan, and Les Pittman to the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering.

Ma joined the department in January 2015 as an associate professor. Ma received his bachelor of science in environmental engineering from Taiyuan University of Technology, master of science in environmental engineering from Tongji University, and Ph.D. in civil engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology. Ma is a member of the environmental and water resources division. His research interests include environmental health and safety of engineered nanomaterials, biogeochemistry of emerging contaminants, phytoremediation, ecosystem restoration, and water reuse.

Noshadravan joined the department in January 2015 as a research assistant professor. Noshadravan received his bachelor of science in civil engineering from Sharif University of Technology, master of science in structural engineering from University of Tehran, master of engineering in computer-aided engineering and Ph.D. in civil engineering from University of Southern California. He previously served as a postdoctoral associate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Noshadravan’s research interests include probabilistic multiscale modeling of materials, life-cycle sustainability assessment of materials and systems, and uncertainty modeling and analysis.

Pittman joined the department in February 2015 as an associate professor of practice. Pittman received his bachelor of science in civil engineering from Texas A&M University and his master of science in civil engineering from Colorado State University. Pittman’s 40 years of professional experience includes his role as senior vice president and director of sustainability with Klotz Associates. He has experience with countless land development projects including higher education and Texas parks. Pittman is a Licensed Professional Engineer, accredited LEED AP, Registered Land Surveyor, and an ENV SP.
