The Department of Mechanical Engineering was recently visited by Aarti Shahani, a reporter from NPR’s All Tech Considered program, who interviewed Dr. Hong Liang to discover more about her robotic research involving cockroaches. While most people are frightened at the thought of a room full of crawling roaches, or insects in general, Dr. Liang sees the potential benefits that would arise from being able to control the locomotion of roaches with shocks from electrodes.
