Dr. M. Katherine Banks, vice chancellor and dean of engineering, has appointed Dr. Jenn-Tai Liang holder of the John E. & Deborah F. Bethancourt Professorship in the Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering. The endowed professorship was effective March 1.
Liang, who is a professor in petroleum engineering, holds a Ph.D. in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, a master’s degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Alabama, and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Tamkang University.
Liang’s research interests include using nano drug delivery technologies for transport and controlled release of oilfield chemicals; hydraulic fracturing fluid cleanup; microbial enhanced oil recovery; scale, wax and asphaltene inhibition; in-depth conformance control; and CO2 injection for carbon sequestration and improved oil recovery.
