Aashwin MishraAashwin Mishra, a recent Ph.D. graduate of the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Texas A&M University, was awarded second place in the annual poster competition at the 67th Meeting of the American Physical Society DFD held recently in San Francisco.

The competition featured more than 70 selected entries by graduate students from all over the world. Mishra's doctoral research with Dr. Sharath Girimaji involved statistical modeling for turbulent flows.

Their research has been honored by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, the Office of Graduate Studies and the Graduate Students Council at Texas A&M, among others. Mishra concluded his doctoral studies recently and was awarded the Outstanding Dissertation Award in Aerodynamics & Propulsion by the Department of Aerospace Engineering.

He has joined the department as a lecturer, and is involved in teaching courses while co-authoring a textbook on turbulence with Girimaji.
