Dr. M. Katherine Banks, vice chancellor and dean of engineering at Texas A&M University, was presented the 2014 ESE Distinguished Alumna Award by the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering at the University of North Carolina.
Dr. Michael Aitken, chair of the department, presented the award to Banks. While on the University of North Carolina campus, Banks, delivered a seminar on her research area titled “Bacterial Biofilm Characteristics in Environmental Engineering Applications.”
Banks, who is also the holder of the Harold J. Hayne’s Dean’s Chair in Engineering, received her master’s degree from North Carolina
