The Aggie Women in Computer Science (AWICS) recently hosted its 5th annual Trick-or-Research, an event designed to introduce undergraduates and first-year graduate students to some of the research in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University.
More than 100 students participated in the two-day event. Faculty gave the students a brief overview of their research and the students were encouraged to visit research groups in the department to learn more about the research.
Students were given a lab visit passport and when they visited a lab, their passport was stamped. The students who visited at least five labs during the event became eligible to enter a raffle for a chance to win prizes.
Three students from computer science and engineering — Roger Villanueva, Jonathan Ng and Brendan Garcia — won the raffle with each receiving a $25 Visa gift card for having the most stamps on their passport. Computer science and engineering students, Sean-Collin Lee Ray and Robert Cox won the grand prize of a $100 Visa gift card for having a stamp at each building.
"Trick-or-research was a huge success again this year and we hope everyone enjoyed it,” said Cindy Yeh, AWICS president.
